Terms of Service
Effective May 3, 2026
Welcome to Earned Together. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and JLM Brands LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("JLM Brands," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of the Earned Together website at earnedtogether.com and the Earned Together application (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, joining a household, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is owned and operated by JLM Brands LLC, with its principal office at 5900 Balcones Drive, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731. You can reach us at brands@jmorg.org or (214) 420-6450.
2. The Service
Earned Together is a personal-finance tool designed for couples. It lets two partners form a "household," manually log shared transactions and goals, view joint budgets and insights, and keep a private side-ledger that is visible only to the partner who owns it. The Service is informational only — it does not move money, link to bank accounts, or provide financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements. The Service is currently offered only in the United States; access from other jurisdictions is at your own risk.
4. Your account
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information during sign-up and to keep that information current. You may not share your account with another person; instead, invite your partner to join your household so each of you has your own account.
5. Households and partner data
A household is a shared workspace for exactly two partners. By joining a household, you agree that information you mark as "joint" — including joint transactions, goals, budgets, and recurring bills — will be visible to your partner. Information in your private side-ledger ("My Money") stays with you and is never shown to your partner unless you explicitly choose to share it. Either partner may leave or remove the other from a household at any time; shared data remains with the household and your private data remains with you.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to harass, surveil, coerce, or financially abuse a partner or any other person;
- upload content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or that contains malware;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts, households, or data;
- scrape, copy, or systematically extract data from the Service except your own data via the export tools we provide;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the Service or its underlying infrastructure;
- use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service (transactions, notes, goal names, photos, and so on). You grant JLM Brands a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you and your partner. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train advertising profiles or third-party machine-learning models.
8. Pricing
The core couples-finance experience is free during launch and will remain free when we introduce a paid tier in the future. Paid features, when offered, will be optional power-user additions. We will notify you in advance of any material change to pricing or what is included in the free tier.
9. No financial advice
Earned Together is a tool for tracking and discussing money with your partner. Nothing in the Service is intended as, and should not be relied upon as, financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. If you need professional advice, consult a qualified professional.
10. Third-party services
We rely on third-party providers to operate the Service, including Clerk for authentication and session management, Replit for application hosting, database, and object storage, and email-delivery providers used by Clerk for transactional messages such as verification codes and password resets. If and when you opt in to bank-account linking in the future, we will use Plaid as our financial-data aggregator to securely retrieve account and transaction information from your financial institution; bank linking is opt-in, partner by partner, and is never required to use the Service. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' terms when applicable.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any data will not be lost. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JLM Brands and its members, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. JLM Brands' aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless JLM Brands and its members, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of them.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
